China Special Economic Zones (SEZ) were first developed in 1980 as part of Deng Xiaoping's "Open Door" politics, driven by the ambition to encourage overseas investments in China and to give a boost to China's economic growth. In exchange for significant tax benefits and special policies with regards to rules and regulations, foreign companies are attracted to settle in China. The success of the SEZs provided a blueprint on how to stimulate the economic growth and development in the rest of China, resulting in the creation of Free Trade Zones and Industrial Parks. 

Fuzhou Aviation Industry Park, also known as the Binhai New City of Fuzhou, is located in the Fuzhou Changle Airport Economic Zone, which covers an area of almost 40-hectare land.  This area  focuses on the development of  the  Aviation Sector in general and is  listed as the key  project of Fujian Province in 2018.
